Private Pass: An Exclusive Ultrasound Scanning Intensive

Private Pass offers an exclusive opportunity to work side-by-side with leading MSK ultrasound faculty in an intimate, hands-on setting. Six faculty members will each work with just two participants for the entire one-hour session, creating an environment designed for focused instruction, meaningful interaction, and maximum scanning time.
Each participant receives 30 dedicated minutes on the probe while their partner serves as the model. During the second half of the session, the roles reverse. A dedicated screen keeps both participants fully engaged throughout—following the scan, observing technique, discussing anatomy, and learning from real-time faculty feedback.
With a 2:1 participant-to-faculty ratio, there’s no waiting for your turn and no getting lost in the crowd. You’ll have direct access to an expert, dedicated time on the probe, and the opportunity to ask questions and refine your technique as you scan.

Brian Shiple, DO FAAOM
Dr. Brian Shiple is a recognized leader in the fields of interventional and integrative orthopedic medicine, regenerative injection treatment (RIT), sports medicine, and diagnostic ultrasound. He has been in private practice since 2006 after completing thirteen years as the division chief of Sports Medicine and founder and director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at Crozer-Keystone Health System in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Dr. Shiple has taught at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and has held an academic appointment at Temple University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the International Cellular Medicine Society, the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine, and the International Spine Intervention Society.
In addition to helping thousands of patients through his own practice, Dr. Shiple served as team physician to several local school districts, was the founding medical director of the Philadelphia Triathlon at Fairmount Park, was the chief medical officer of the Pennsylvania State Games from 1994-2006, and was a volunteer team physician of the US Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs in 2003.
Mike Carlson, DO FAAOM
Dr. Carlson was raised in Knoxville and began his practice in 1996 with Summit Medical Group at Deane Hill & Northshore where he practiced primary care for 20 years and now devotes his practice entirely to non-surgical orthopedic medicine at TRSM.
He is Board Certified in Family Medicine as well as Certified in Interventional Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine (IROM) through the American Academy of Orthopedic Medicine (AAOM).
He received his undergraduate training from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at East Tennessee State University, James H. Quillen College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Carlson is currently on the Board of Directors for the AAOM and is an instructor to physicians on a national as well as an international basis through the AAOM for both palpatory and ultrasound guided orthopedic injections.
Sean Mulvaney, MD FAOASM
As an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Dr. Mulvaney is board certified in Sports Medicine and Pain Medicine. He is the co-founder of The Stellate Institute. During his 31-year military career, Dr. Mulvaney served our nation’s Special Operations community as both a US Navy SEAL officer and a US Army physician.
In 2008, he became the first Department of Defense physician to be credentialed in regenerative medicine techniques such as platelet rich plasma and stem cell therapy for repair of musculoskeletal and spine injuries. Dr. Mulvaney is the internationally recognized leader in the use of SGB for PTSD. He was the first to use Stellate Ganglion Block to treat combat-related PTSI and has published in this field of research for over 10 years. He is internationally known as an educator of other physicians and has pioneered and extensively published on ultrasound-guided techniques.
As the Chief Science Officer and a staff physician with Regenerative Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Annapolis, Maryland, (home of The Stellate Institute) Dr. Mulvaney focuses on the repair of musculoskeletal, nerve and spine injuries using regenerative medicine techniques with ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance.
Tom Clark, DC, RVT, RMSK
Founder of MSKUS, Tom Clark is an internationally-recognized musculoskeletal ultrasound practitioner, anatomy expert, author and educator with over 30 years experience in the medical industry. He is a Musculoskeletal Sonologist and registered vascular technologist. He conducts regional workshops & On-Site Trainings in the United States & internationally to teach Ultrasound and Needle Guidance. He has authored dozens of publications on medical ultrasound along with traveling internationally to present and lecture. He has recently traveled to India, Spain, Hong Kong, Germany, Australia, Italy & Dubai as an invited speaker & faculty member for Ultrasound related conferences.

Rob Monaco, MD, MPH, RMSK, FAAOM
Dr. Robert Monaco is a nationally recognized sports medicine physician with expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, regenerative medicine, orthobiologics, and the care of athletes at all levels.
Board-certified in family medicine, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal ultrasound, Dr. Monaco currently practices with Atlantic Sports Health and serves as a team physician for U.S. Figure Skating. Previously, he served as Director of Sports Medicine at Rutgers University for more than 20 years, overseeing the comprehensive medical care of collegiate athletes across numerous sports.
Dr. Monaco is a recognized leader and educator in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures. He has taught extensively at national and international courses and is actively involved in research and physician education. Throughout his career, Dr. Monaco has combined clinical expertise, innovative treatment approaches, and a commitment to helping athletes and active individuals achieve optimal health, recovery, and performance.
Al Kozar, MD
Dr. Kozar grew up in Massillon, Ohio and was a starting member of the 1988 State Champion Canton Central Catholic football team. In 1993, he graduated from The University of Notre Dame with a BS in Biochemistry. He pursued his dream of becoming a physician by attending The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUCOM). He earned his DO degree in 1998. Dr. Kozar chose Osteopathic Medicine because his personal philosophy mirrors the Osteopathic Foundation of the integration of body unity and functional evaluation & treatment.
Over the last several years, Dr. Kozar has been a sought after national lecturer on Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), Functional Rehabilitation, and Diagnostic & Guided Interventions with Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Dr. Kozar has more than 25 years of experience in sports medicine.
In September 2015, Dr. Kozar decided to change his career path and join The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) to develop and become the director of a new Osteopathic Neuromuscular Medicine Residency to train residents and perform research in his areas of interest. His private practice continues to be a non-surgical, 100% musculoskeletal practice specializing in the evaluation and treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions through the use of a wide range of non-operative modalities. He now serves as a consultant for Virginia Tech athletes.
