Course Description
The Integrative Oxidative Therapies Certification Program is a comprehensive, two-part educational experience designed to provide healthcare professionals with both the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to approach medical ozone therapy thoughtfully, safely, and systematically.
Rather than treating ozone therapy as a collection of isolated techniques, the program integrates science, clinical reasoning, patient safety, equipment proficiency, procedural principles, and hands-on skills development into a unified educational pathway.
A Two-Part Learning Experience: Knowledge First. Skills Second. Integration Throughout.
The certification program combines two complementary components:
Part I — Online Learning
The self-paced online curriculum provides the scientific and clinical foundation for the program. Across eight chapters, participants explore the principles of medical ozone therapy, ozone generation and equipment, concentration and dosing, patient selection and contraindications, emergency preparedness, integration with regenerative injection therapies, evidence across orthopedic applications and routes of administration, and the regulatory, consent, and documentation considerations that accompany clinical practice.
The online curriculum is designed to establish the knowledge, vocabulary, safety framework, and clinical reasoningparticipants need before progressing to hands-on training.
Part II — Hands-On Clinical Training
The in-person component moves from knowledge to application. In a clinical learning environment, participants work with faculty to develop practical familiarity with medical ozone equipment, preparation and handling, treatment planning, procedural workflows, and selected administration techniques.
Through faculty demonstration, case-based discussion, guided practice, and supervised skills development, participants have the opportunity to translate concepts from the online curriculum into practical clinical decision-making and procedural skills.
The two components are intentionally designed to work together.
The online curriculum answers the why behind medical ozone therapy: the science, evidence, dosing principles, safety considerations, patient selection, and clinical decision-making that inform responsible use.
The hands-on course focuses on the how: translating those principles into organized clinical workflows and developing procedural skills under faculty guidance.
Together, they create a structured certification pathway that emphasizes not simply learning how to perform a procedure, but understanding when it may be appropriate, why a particular approach is being considered, how to perform it safely, and how to evaluate and document the outcome.

The Integrative Oxidative Therapies Certification Program is designed for healthcare professionals who want a structured, clinically grounded approach to understanding and developing skills in medical ozone therapy.
The program is particularly well suited for clinicians interested in orthopedic, musculoskeletal, pain, sports medicine, regenerative, and integrative applications of medical ozone therapy. It is designed for participants who want more than procedural instruction alone—and who recognize that responsible clinical practice begins with understanding the science, patient selection, dosing principles, safety considerations, evidence, and clinical reasoning behind a procedure.

Because professional scope of practice varies by license type, jurisdiction, institution, and procedure, participation in the course does not independently authorize a clinician to perform any specific procedure.

Prior Experience With Ozone Therapy Is Not Required
Participants do not need previous experience with medical ozone therapy. The two-part structure is designed to establish the necessary foundation through the online learning program before advancing to the hands-on clinical experience.
Clinicians who already use medical ozone may also benefit from the program as an opportunity to revisit foundational principles, examine current evidence, refine clinical reasoning, and develop a more standardized approach to safety and procedural practice.
An Important Distinction
This is a professional education and skills-development program. Completion of the certification course documents completion of the program's educational requirements; it does not confer professional licensure, board certification, specialty status, hospital privileges, or an expanded scope of practice.
Participants remain responsible for determining whether particular therapies and procedures are permitted under their professional license, applicable laws and regulations, institutional policies, and standards of practice.

Scientific Knowledge & Clinical Reasoning
By completing the program, participants should be able to:
Explain the scientific foundations of medical ozone therapy, including ozone chemistry, redox biology, oxidative signaling, hormesis, and proposed mechanisms of action.
Critically evaluate the clinical evidence for medical ozone therapy and recognize differences in evidence quality across indications, treatment protocols, and routes of administration.
Explain the principles of medical ozone generation and delivery, including medical oxygen sources, ozone generators, concentration, flow, materials compatibility, gas handling, and equipment quality assurance.
Calculate and interpret ozone concentration, gas volume, and total ozone dose, while distinguishing these parameters from biological exposure and clinical response.
Apply dose-response and therapeutic-window concepts when evaluating treatment strategies.
Evaluate the evidence for orthopedic and musculoskeletal applications, including osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, myofascial pain, discogenic and radicular conditions, and selected axial and peripheral pain targets.
Differentiate among routes of ozone administration and explain how diagnosis, anatomical target, route, concentration, volume, and technique influence treatment planning.
Patient Selection & Treatment Planning
Participants should be able to:
Conduct a structured pre-procedure assessment incorporating diagnosis, treatment goals, patient selection, contraindications, precautions, medications, and relevant clinical risk factors.
Develop an individualized treatment strategy based on the patient's condition, anatomical target, clinical objectives, available evidence, and risk-benefit considerations.
Use clinical reasoning to determine when not to proceed, recognizing that appropriate restraint is an essential component of safe practice.
Evaluate the role of medical ozone alongside other regenerative and musculoskeletal interventions, including dextrose prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, hyaluronic acid, local anesthetics, corticosteroids, and rehabilitation.
Determine when combination or staged therapy may be appropriate and recognize when additional interventions increase complexity without sufficient clinical justification.
Apply principles of informed consent and shared decision-making, including discussion of reasonable alternatives, anticipated benefits, material risks, uncertainty in the evidence, and off-label or nonstandard treatment when applicable.
Recognize regulatory and professional considerations, including scope of practice, licensure, institutional requirements, and jurisdiction-specific responsibilities.
Procedural Skills, Safety & Clinical Integration
Through the online curriculum and hands-on clinical training, participants should be able to:
Demonstrate practical familiarity with medical ozone equipment, including preparation, operation, concentration selection, gas handling, and appropriate materials.
Develop a systematic procedural workflow incorporating equipment preparation, infection prevention, sterile technique, patient positioning, anatomical considerations, procedural monitoring, and post-procedure assessment.
Perform selected course skills under faculty guidance and supervision, integrating the principles taught in the online curriculum with hands-on clinical application.
Recognize expected post-procedure responses and identify potential adverse events, including vasovagal, allergic, neurologic, respiratory, vascular, infectious, bleeding, and neurovascular complications.
Initiate an organized response to procedural emergencies and understand the roles of emergency equipment, medications, team preparation, escalation pathways, and simulation.
Document treatment appropriately before, during, and after a procedure, including clinical rationale, consent, procedural details, patient response, outcomes, adverse events, and follow-up.
Integrate knowledge, clinical judgment, procedural technique, and safety principles into a consistent approach to medical ozone therapy.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If a registrant is unable to attend an event for any reason they may substitute, by arrangement with the registrar, someone else to attend in their place.
Where the registrant is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer his/her place to another person, then the following refund arrangements apply:
Registrations cancelled more than ten working days before the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fees paid, less a 10% administration charge. No refunds are available for cancellations made within ten working days of the event.
Refunds will be made to the same debit/credit card that was used for the registration payment. Payments made for merchandise purchased, and available for pick-up at the event, will not be refunded. Registrants have the option to make arrangements with the registrar to have, at the registrant’s cost, the items shipped following the event. Any merchandise not claimed at the event for which no prior notice to the registrar has been made will be forfeited.
Any required changes or cancellations to lodging reservations are the responsibility of the person booking the room. AAOM is not responsible for changes or cancellations to hotel reservations.
