The AAOM Interventional Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine (IROM) Workshop includes the "how to" of percutaneous orthobiologic treatments starting with the fundamentals and quickly progressing each student individually with training designed to expand and update the participants' skills to integrate regenerative orthopedic medicine techniques into clinical practice. The purpose of these Workshops is to advance the educational and clinical foundation of physicians choosing to practice percutaneous orthopedics with patients who have musculoskeletal problems.
With AAOM IROM expert faculty, students will determine comprehensive diagnosis, formulate plan of treatment and perform multiple regenerative medicine procedures on patients with varied pathologies. The AAOM faculty adjusts to each student's level to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
You can choose to attend the Basic/Intermediate Clinic, Advanced Clinic, or Full Workshop.
Our host facility is the fully accredited Antiguo Hospital Civil Fray Antonio
Alcalde with Clinic Coordinator Dr. J. Jesus Gonzalez Jaime, who
coordinates our facility visit, patient recruitment, treatment, and follow-up
care of all the local patients. The host facility is a University-based
hospital system with a large educational setting for physicians.
Course is limited to 12 physician-learners for each track.
IROM 203: BASIC/INTERMEDIATE CLINIC
November 13-15: Level 303 Basic AAOM IROM Orthobiologics Clinic with Ultrasound Diagnostic Techniques on Live Patients.
Instruction includes palpation diagnostic techniques and ultrasound guided needle placement and palpation guided needle placement for the shoulder, elbow/wrist/hand, knee, hip, and ankle/foot; and want to progress their knowledge and skills utilizing guidance for prolotherapy and PRP on live patients. Attendees shall receive instruction on screening live patients to include exam and diagnosis, treatment plan, basic ultrasound physics, image optimization, advantages and limitations of MSK US, and diagnostic and interventional injection techniques utilizing both prolotherapy and PRP.

IROM 400: ADVANCED CLINIC
November 15-17: IROM 500-502 is an Advanced AAOM IROM Orthobiologics Clinic utilizing both Ultrasound and Fluoroscopic Guidance for more advanced structures and complex cases of the shoulder, elbow/wrist/hand, knee, hip/, and ankle/foot.
The procedures are performed in a sterile operating room at the hospital facility. IROM 500 is designed for the student who is interested in increasing the accuracy of their injections of the of the peripheral joints and preparing for more accurate placement of "more advanced" IROM procedures, such as PRP and stem cells. Each doctor screens multiple patients and will pick certain patients to operate on in the Operating Rooms on Saturday and Sunday. Each surgeon will do two cases per day on Saturday and Sunday for a total of 8 patients.
You will learn how to perform bone marrow aspiration, adipose aspiration and fat grafts under fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound guidance. Faculty will teach you how to obtain the maximum yield of bone marrow and adipose stem cell processing.
