NEEDS ASSESSMENT
A Needs Assessment was conducted using prior program feedback from an evaluation and committee assessment to determine the types of sessions and information that rated well at previous meetings of both the AAOM and other organizations.
The committee also evaluated New Medical Knowledge made available in new research, periodicals and through other Medical Meetings.
Overall, the need fulfilled in this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of the interrelationships between chronic pain, structural dysfunction, enthesopathy, and prolotherapy and interventional pain medicine techniques. The workshop will be presented using a combination of lecture and hands-on lab presentations. Participants will gain experience in various techniques to treat chronic pain under the guidance of experienced teachers from several disciplines. The physicians attending this conference care for patients suffering from chronic pain. The need is to further learn, by sharing data and experience of treatments and outcomes and become appraised of new medical advances.
The educational methods that we will use to achieve the overall learning objectives will include morning sessions of six to seven lectures given by physicians experienced in various aspects of musculoskeletal care. In the afternoons, two workshop sessions will be presented to the audience highlighting the various topics and problem areas. In some cases the workshops will be scheduled as successive workshop sessions for more focused discussion and treatment demonstrations.
